Long description: Reesheda Gilbert recently earned the American Chemical Society’s hardship award. The Kennesaw State biochemistry student, never imagined she could get this far by looking for someplace so close. Gilbert’s “this far” is the cushion between her life now and the blows she endured in an abusive home environment. In the first study abroad opportunity for biology students at University of North Georgia, groups will head to Belize and Costa Rica next summer to study native flora and fauna.
